Do the Seasons Affect Your Reading?

I don’t know about you, but I’m glad it’s getting lighter in the evenings again – even though the weather still isn’t up to much yet. It may seem silly, but I find it much easier to read when I can do it in natural light rather than under an electric lightbulb.

I think it’s partly because of the energy-saving lightbulbs we have these days. However, ‘equivalent’ they are to the old ones, they never seem to give quite as bright a light. There always seems to be this overwhelming dullness. Maybe I’m just mis-remembering. Of course, it’s always going to be duller in the winter months, even in the middle of the day and this winter seems to have gone on forever.

Anyway, the lighter nights have boosted my reading quite a lot over the past few weeks. I’m determined to get the number of unread books on my Kindle down to the twenties (I think I got them down to about forty-two last night) and I’m not going to download any more books until I get there – famous last words.

Do you find it easier to read during the summer months?
