Progress Report: 23/03/2015 – 29/03/2015

Welcome to week thirteen.

Yay! It’s British Summer Time. Longer evenings (hurrah!), darker mornings (boo!). Soon it’ll be time to start doing things like gardening again.

Rag & Bones: Death (Book Five)

I finished the edit this week and started putting the eBook together. Got a bit stuck with Scrivener formatting and decided to leave that till next week to sort out. Shouldn’t be too difficult, just needs a little brain power. Once the files sorted, I’ll give it a Kindle read-through. Seeing as it’s Easter next weekend, I probably won’t get much more than that done on this book, this week.

Other Projects

The rewrite/reimagining fantasy novel is now at about 19K. I have already gone back over the text a couple of times, rewriting a little so that I get the story straight before I get too far in. I’m pleased with it so far. Once again, I’m not scheduling time for this, but hope to get a little more completed this week.

Progress Report: 16/03/2015 – 22/03/2015

Welcome to week twelve.

So, anyone manage to see the eclipse this week? I happened to be in the cloudy area of the country (until it was all over, of course) and only saw a glimpse when it was nearly finished. Oh, well. Only another eleven years till the next (major) one.

Rag & Bones: Death (Book Five)

I am currently going through this for its final edit. I’m still, surprisingly, adding a few words here and there and the total is gradually creeping up. Hopefully, I’ll be able to finish the edit this week and go on to final read throughs on my eReader for any glitches in the document and last-minute proofreading.

NaNo Novel(s)

I finished the run through of Book One this week. I’m leaving this now until I’ve finished working on the above book. So, nothing on it next week.

Other Projects

This week I redid all the covers for the R&B Shorts, and also updated the blurbs, on all platforms. I also did a little more on the accounting work, but not a great deal.

And … remember that sci-fi novel I did a complete restart on last year, and faltered again before I’d finished? Well, I’ve now decided to try it in more of a fantasy setting. I think the problem was, that although I like the concept, I was getting bogged down because I needed to use plausible science for it, and I’m no scientist. The fantasy setting, or so I’m hoping, will give me more scope to bend the science to my needs! I’m nearly up to 7K on it already, and I’m only working on it when everything else is done, so I’m quite pleased with that. I’m not going to commit to any amount of words or time, but I hope to continue working on it this week.

Progress Report: 09/03/2015 – 15/03/2015

Welcome to week eleven.

This week has been interrupted a little by a family birthday, so not as productive as usual, but progress has been made.

Rag & Bones: Alllies (Book Six)

I’ve finished the run through of this book and it is now having a rest. It’s sitting at around 46K at the moment.

NaNo Novel(s)

I did a little work on Book One of my NaNo Trilogy, but not a lot. I probably managed about four or five chapters. It’s just over 52K at the moment. It may still dip lower as I adjust the text. I hope to get through to the end of it by the beginning of next week so that I can do my final run throughs of R&B Five, and thus let this one rest for another week before tackling it again. I’m not worrying so much about the flow at the moment, just removing all references to the event I’ve expunged from the beginning of the story.

Other Projects

This week I’ve started catching up. On what? Well, since I started NaNo in November, I haven’t done any accounts. I know I was going to do one day a month, but in the cold winter months I couldn’t bear the thought of sitting in a cold room to shuffle bits of paper. Anyway, the catching up has consisted of lots of printing. I still haven’t finished the printing, so I hope to do that this week. Then, I’ll be able to start matching everything up and spreadsheeting it (yes, I did make that verb up!).

Progress Report: 02/03/2015 – 08/03/2015

Welcome to week ten.

This week I moved upstairs to the office again. With the promise of warmer weather, it seemed like the time to do it. Not sure it was that much warmer in the end, but it was good to be back! That also meant that I could start my standing working again. I’ve only been doing an hour each day, because on the first day, when I tried to walk (to go and get another cup of coffee!), my ankles really hurt. It was just that one day, but I thought I’d better ease myself in after that. The actual standing is no problem at all. I thought it would be much more difficult after three-ish months of sitting!

Rag & Bones: Alllies (Book Six)

This week I’ve mainly spent time working on Book Six. This had involved some editing of what is already there, but mainly adding new scenes where I had identified they were needed. I’m still working through those scenes and am probably two-thirds of the way through the manuscript at the moment. Currently, the wordcount stands at 42,802. I expect to finish working on this sometime this week and to put it to rest.

NaNo Novel(s)

I have done some work on the first book in this series this week, but not so much. I thought it would get easier as I went further into the text, because I’ve made the main alterations regarding the changed plotline already, but it’s actually more difficult. I think that’s because the mentions are more subtle and therefore need more thinking about to deal with. Does that make sense? Anyway, it was too much to get my head around while also working on R&B 6, so I gave up mid-week. I hope to do some more on this book this week, but as I have a family birthday to go to this week, I’ll have less time and it may not happen.

Other Projects

This week I uploaded new covers for Books 1-4 in the R&B series and also new blurbs. I haven’t put the new covers everywhere yet, and they’re not on the paper books at all. I’ll see how they go before endeavouring to change those.

Progress Report: 23/02/2015 – 01/03/2015

Welcome to week nine.

Rag & Bones: Conflict (Book Seven)

I’ve finished working on this one and it’s now time for it to rest. The current word count is 28,253. I don’t expect the final version to be more than 35-40K.

Next week, I’ll start another run-through of Book Six so that I can then let that rest as a complete story. I’ve got whole new scenes to write for this one, so more work is involved than in Book Seven and I don’t expect to finish it in one week.

NaNo Novel(s)

As I said last week, I had to remove an event from the beginning that I didn’t feel was believable. I’ve nearly got to the point in the story where changes relating to this will become minor. I’ve lost around 4K words so far, but I will need to write some extra scenes later on to make up for what I’ve lost at the beginning. As it turns out, I managed to put the event I lost in somewhere else, in a much more believable way. I know that’s all very cryptic, but I’m hardly going to give the story away now, am I? I also said last week that I thought this would now be two books and not three. However, I have thought of a way I could still have three, which would mean a completely new plot for that book.

I’ll continue to work on this over the next week.

Other Projects

Nothing new.
