Progress Report: 24/08/2015 – 30/08/2015

Welcome to week thirty-five.

I’m writing and scheduling this post on Friday, as I’ll be away until after it’s scheduled post time. I’m assuming I won’t have much time for reading over the weekend, so I’m leaving Saturday and Sunday blank, and I’m certain I won’t get any more writing done.

Fantasy Book 2

This book is now completed. The eBook is up and running on Amazon, the paperback will have to wait until next week. It’s awaiting review, but I don’t want to do it in a rush, so I’ll leave it until Tuesday.

Zombie Novella

I didn’t really expect to do anything on this during the week, but I ended up being able to work on it on Friday. I haven’t finished another round of edits, but it’s over 14K now. I still have half a dozen scenes to go through, and I expect to be able to increase the wordcount by perhaps another 1-2K with those scenes. That will take it close to novella length. I’ll finish that edit on Tuesday and then let it rest until the following week.

Other Projects

I haven’t done anything on my short stories this week, but I intend to use Wednesday through Sunday of next week to edit, write, send out whatever I have.

Progress Report: 17/08/2015 – 23/08/2015

Welcome to week thirty-four.

Fantasy Book 2

I completed the read-through on the paperback version of this book, as expected, by mid-week. I have bought the cover image and made a paperback and eBook cover. This coming week I will be doing a final read out loud on my Kindle and hopefully it will be published before the weekend.

Zombie Novella

I continued working on this later in the week and got all the way to the end of the story, which ended up just over 9K. I have also started a second pass on it, which I hope to finish today, Sunday, so that it can rest for a few days (week?). I don’t think it’s going to get to novella length (around 20K), so may end up just being a long short story.

Other Projects

I have been playing around with the beginnings of another couple of short stories for submission calls I’ve seen. I may do some more on these over the coming week, depending on time. Next weekend is actually a bank holiday, so my time will be more limited this week, especially on the reading side.

The only remaining short story I had out there has been rejected. I’m not sure I’ll be able to find another place to send it as it was very specific to the submission call. If I can’t find anywhere, I may incorporate it into something else.

Progress Report: 10/08/2015 – 16/08/2015

Welcome to week thirty-three.

Fantasy Book 1

I did nothing on this book this week. I think I’m going to put this away for a while, so I won’t be mentioning it again until I get the urge to start working on it again.

Fantasy Book 2

I achieved everything I wanted to with this project this week. I finished a read-through on the Kindle and I put the book (roughly) into paperback format and began a read-through on that version, formatting as I go. I’m probably about a third of the way through on the paperback version. I hope to finish that by the middle of the week. At that point I will let it rest for a few days (the following Monday). During that time I will work on getting both versions of the cover finished. I have the picture I want to use picked out, I just have to buy it now.

Other Projects

I still haven’t finished the other short story I was working on. I think it’s the ending that’s stopping me send it off. It doesn’t have enough … I want to say impact, but maybe that’s the wrong word. Anyway, maybe I’ll finish it this coming week.

I have started another piece, which I hope to be long enough to be a novella. I’ve completed about 2K words so far, and will continue with this during the coming week. No goals on this one, just to progress it a little. It will be known forthwith as the zombie novella.

Progress Report: 03/08/2015 – 09/08/2015

Welcome to week thirty-two.

Fantasy Book 1

I did nothing on this book this week.

Fantasy Book 2

So, my aim this week was to go through the whole book and try to add 10K words. I did do a complete edit and got to 59,041 words. That’s not quite there with the total, but it was all I could do in that pass. I’ve already started going through it again as a Kindle read and have added a few more words since then. This coming week I will continue the Kindle read. I expect to possibly add more words towards the end of the book, because that hasn’t had so many passes yet (ie the part of the book I’ve written since I re-started on this project). If I finish another pass, I’ll put it into paperback format and do a read-through on that word document. I’m hoping to get this one out really quickly and, at the moment, I believe that is going to be possible.

Other Projects

I sent one of my short stories off this week and had a confirmation e-mail back. I won’t hear anything further on that one until the end of the year.

Still one written and not sent off. I’ll see if I can do that this week. Then, I’ll need to think about writing some more.

Progress Report: 27/07/2015 – 02/08/2015

Welcome to week thirty-one.

Fantasy Book 1

I did nothing on this book this week.

Fantasy Book 2

Last week I said I wanted to try for 10-15K on this book. I wrote 15,812 words, so goal achieved. The first few days I was reaching around 3K, but on Friday I had another brain blockage on quite how to write the last few chapters. I decided to go to the end and work back, as I’ve done before. I still achieved just under 2K that day, and later in the afternoon, after resting my brain for a while, I planned out the remaining scenes, which meant Saturday was much easier and I finished the first draft of the story.

I’m really happy with it so far and I can’t wait to start on it again tomorrow (Monday). I know I’ll need to add in quite a bit of detail, so I expect the word count to rise considerably (currenlty 50,563). If I can add 10K words this coming week, I’ll be happy.

Other Projects

I spent Sunday as my first official admin day, after resolving to start that properly again last week. I’m completely up-to-date. Hurrah!

The short story I needed to send off this week got sent. The other story from a few weeks back, where I’d got to the final round, that one got rejected, unfortunately. I’m going to try to find somewhere else to send it, but that might take a little while.

The other two short stories have had another edit and read out loud on the Kindle. I might actually get round to sending them out this coming week.
