Progress Report: 23/11/2015 – 29/11/2015

Welcome to week forty-eight.

Don’t know what was up with the NaNo word count. Didn’t seem to be updating on the weekly posts. Anyway …

NaNo-2015-Winner-BannerI finished the rough draft edit on Tuesday and got to 50,049 words. Just made it.

NaNo Novel

So, the story is finished and is now going to rest for a while. My life is going to be even more disrupted for the next couple of weeks, so I don’t know how much writing I’m going to get to do. I don’t imagine I’ll work on this again until after Christmas.

Classroom Novel

I have done some editing on this since Tuesday, but there’s a long way to go. I’ll try to do more over the coming week, but that may not be possible.

Other Projects

I uploaded Glamoured to all the other sites this week.

Reading

Aim: To monitor time spent reading over the week.

I have spent virtually no time reading this week and I forgot to bring the paperwork with me to where I am today. So, let’s say I did about 3 hours and leave it at that.

  • Tuesday: m
  • Wednesday: m
  • Thursday: m
  • Friday: m

Progress Report: 16/11/2015 – 22/11/2015

Welcome to week forty-seven.

Yay! 46,332 words and 8 days to go.

NaNo Novel

The wordcount per day has been a bit up and down during the week, anything from 500 – 2,000 words, but there’s not far to go now. I’m about halfway through the rough draft edit. There’s one chapter I’m not happy with and that needs a good deal more work, but the rest of it I’m happy with so far. I’m sure I’ll beat the 50K (less than 4K – easy!), I hope to have done the rough draft edit as well.

Classroom Novel

Nope. Nothing done on this. If I finish my NaNo novel before the end of the week, I will start editing this. Promise!

Other Projects

So, I have prepared the Glamoured files for other retailers, but as it comes out of Select on 26th, which is Thanksgiving, I’m not sure it’ll appear at any retailers until after the weekend. Oh well. Nothing I can do about that. But I will upload it.

I’ve also published a boxset of The Survival Project on Amazon. As the two books have only just been uploaded to other retailers, I won’t go wide with the boxset until after Christmas (probably).

Progress Report: 09/11/2015 – 15/11/2015

Welcome to week forty-six.

Over 35K (35,118, to be precise). I now only have to do 1K a day to finish.

NaNo Novel

The beginning of this week was less productive than the end, which I think was what I had expected when I reported last week. However, today, Sunday, I managed just over 3K, so I’m pleased with that. I expect a similar situation this coming week, with more disruption at the beginning, but nothing is certain.

I’m in the part of the story that wasn’t planned now. I know where the end is, but I am trudging a bit to get there. I know I will need a lot more detail added when I go through the rough draft, which I expect might start this week. If I can get to 40K before I do that, I’ll be pleased and, at the moment, that seems highly likely. I’ve left my characters fighting a monster overnight – I wonder if they will win out!

Classroom Novel

I wanted to do some editing on this book during the week, but that didn’t happen. This was primarily because I forgot about something else I’d need to do – see below. I’ll try to edit in the coming week, but once again, no promises.

Other Projects

So, what I forgot (temporarily) was that Traitor came out of KDP Select this week and I had to upload it to all the other sites. I had already prepared the files, which I’m glad about, but there was still a bit of fiddling around to do.

This coming week I’ll need to prepare the files for Glamoured,  because that comes out the following week, but I need all the links for Traitor before I do that.

Vote! Vote! Vote!

Yay! An extra post.

I think I mentioned the Festival of Drabbles and that I had entered the competition in last week’s round-up. As well as the official competition result, there’s also a People’s Choice award, for which you can vote! What’s more, you can win a prize for voting.

Click on this link to read the stories and vote for mine! Or someone else’s, I don’t mind. Then, if you want to be entered into the draw, make a comment.

That’s all there is to it. Easy-peasy (no idea if that’s the right spelling and I’m not about to check it).

Progress Report: 02/11/2015 – 08/11/2015

Welcome to week forty-five.

So, the old NaNo counter is going up. In case you’re reading this later, at the end of week one (and one day), my wordcount is at 18997 words. Hurrah!

NaNo Novel

For most of this week I managed 3K per day, until it got to Friday and real life got in the way. I have written each day, Friday and Saturday were below the NaNo daily count of 1667 words and Sunday I managed slightly more. The beginning of this coming week will probably be on the lower side and, hopefully, later in the week, I can up the wordcount again.

As far as the story is concerned, I’m gradually weaving in some of the scenes I had planned out in my head and the writing is going well. I love my two main characters, and some of the side characters are coming along nicely as well.

Classroom Novel

I did edit the first scene in this book, but that’s as far as I got. I will set myself a challenge of editing the rest of the first chapter this week and hope that I get further.

Other Projects

One of the short stories I submitted to a competition won! Yay! It was only a small prize, but anything is better than nothing, and the competition cost nothing to enter. Here’s the link, Sweet Retribution, but I don’t know how long that will stay correct, as it is a current winner page. (Probably one month, when the next competition winner is announced.)

This week is the Festival of Drabbles, and I entered a story into that as well. If you’re into drabbles, why not check it out on Facebook.

Progress Report: 26/10/2015 – 01/11/2015

Welcome to week forty-four.

And NaNoWriMo has started! As you can see, I have added the word counter to my post, so you’ll be able to see my progress as I go. Hopefully, I’ll be able to manage it, but with the current home/life situation, I can’t guarantee it.

NaNo Novel

Wordcount for the first day was 3,177, as you probably will be seeing my Monday count as well by the time you read this. It is beginning to flow well. I’d thought about those opening scenes so much, I almost knew them off-by-heart, except, they did veer a little, but not so much as to change the direction of the story.

I think the scenes I’ve already planned out should do me for tomorrow as well, and then I need to decide what comes next. I have lots of random scenes planned out, but with no order for them. They are things that need to happen, I just have to work out how to get there.

Anyway, that’s a good start, so I’m happy.

Classroom Novel

Nothing on this novel this week, as planned. I hope to do some editing during NaNo, but I’m not going to set any targets. It’ll be an as-and-when situation.

Other Projects

I submitted one of my short stories to a competition, but the other one, I’ve decided to do something different with it. I decided I didn’t like the competition’s terms and now I’m going to submit it to somewhere else, that’s not a competition, but now I can make it a little longer, which is good.
