Welcome to week seventeen – and I only just realised that I never pressed publish on last week’s post. Oops. It’s there now.
I’m still working on Book two. I’ve been all the way through and have started from the beginning again. I suppose I’m about two-thirds of the way through again now. I’m currently 15 words off my 60K total, so by the time you read this I will have overtaken that target. I’m still going to go through to the end, which I hope to finish by midweek. Then I can start working more on the paper edit of Book one and get those changes typed up. As this week’s a short one (another Bank Holiday), I don’t suppose I’ll get all of that done – we can but try.
Nothing really to report this week. I have a couple of flash fictions I need to write for competitions/anthologies, but that’s about it. They’re hardly started so far.

Welcome to week sixteen.
As planned, I worked on the second Norse Novel this week. I’m still managing 3K per day of new words, even though some days I really have to force the words out, and I’ve also started some editing of the first chapters. The total now is just under 42K. I’ve still got new story to write, but as last week, I’m not sure if it’ll last out the week. If it does, and I’m still writing 3K per day, I will end up over my 60K, which will be high for a first draft for me. I don’t really expect it to, but I might still make the 60K with the edit where I can fill in some of the gaps.
I still haven’t sent that short story off. I’m not sure I’m going to now. I can’t really explain why. Maybe, I don’t think it’s good enough. Ah, well. We’ll see.
I’m still writing lots of flash fiction (on Instagram, if you’re interested).

The Making of Gabriel Davenport by Beverley Lee
Welcome to week fifteen, as I sit here feeling really cold on a Sunday evening. Seriously, the temperatures are supposed to be going up, not down.
As planned, I started drafting book two this week. I started on Tuesday and decided I would do it as part of Camp NaNoWriMo, as it happened to coincide. I planned to do 3K per day, which I have, so far, achieved. This means my total is now just over 18K. Yay! Some days have been quite easy, others not so. But that’s first draft writing for you. I intend to keep up the 3K per day until I get to the end of the story and go back to the beginning again. After that, it’ll probably be a 2K per day target. No idea whether that will happen this week, or not, as I’ve already veered and added consierably to the paltry plan I’d made. But that’s good. I’ve even brought the dragon in for an earlier appearance, because we all like to see more of the dragons, don’t we?
With regard to the two short stories I wanted to complete and send off, one has been submitted and quickly rejected. I can’t say I’m surprised. It was a bit of a risk. The second one has been completed, but not yet submitted. I slightly got cold feet about it. I don’t know why particularly, but I did. I’ve got till the end of the month, though, so it may still get sent.
Apart from that, I’ve continued to write more flash-fiction stories, which I’m enjoying a lot. I’d got out of the habit of doing these and I didn’t realise how much I missed that until I started again.

Welcome to week fourteen.
So, another edit of Norse 1 completed and it will rest again. It’s over the 71K mark now. This week, I’m starting on Norse 2, either on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on how other things go. I haven’t completed the novel plan, but I’ve probably done more than usual. We’ll see how it goes.
I need to get some stuff tied up and out the door. Firstly, the final Rag & Bones. The files are all there. I just need to do the cover, upload the files and check them. Oh, and write the blurb.
I still need to finish the non-fiction book, as well. I’ll try to do a bit more on this during the week.
I now have two short stories drafted and almost ready to send out to submission calls. I intend to do that this week, but probably not until the weekend.
