Welcome to week thirty.

Norse Novels

This week I started the final read out loud of Book One. I’m about half way through, so I expect to finish that within the next few days. Then, I’ll start on a read through of Book Two and, hopefully, get the cover for Book One made up.

Other Projects

The short story book is now finished and I’ve ordered a proof copy, so can’t do anything more until I get that. I should really start putting the stories I’ve written since into a new document, with the intention of doing a second book and spreading out the work rather than having it all to do at once. I’ll see if I can start that this week.

Welcome to week twenty-nine.

Norse Novels

I managed to finish the first draft of Book Three, which is better than I was expecting. It’s still only about 57K words, but that will undoubtedly increase when I do the next edit. I will probably do the final pass on Book One next week with the intention of having it ready to go, but not published, because I need to have Book Two available for pre-order before I do that. I hope to have that all sorted by mid-late August.

Other Projects

I spent Thursday and Friday working on the short story book. I will continue with this as my first project next week. I want to be able to order a proof copy by the end of the week.

Welcome to week twenty-eight.

Norse Novels

I continue to work on the rough draft of Book Three. It’s going to be at least another week of work to finish and achieve a first draft, which will be interrupted as I won’t be working next weekend (because it’s my birthday). I’ve added several thousand words to the draft so I’m not far off the 60K target for the first draft.

Other Projects

I’ve also spent another day on sorting out my short story collection. I have all the stories in the file. Now, I just need to make sure it all looks good. I also need to devise a cover. I know what I want to do for it, just got to make sure I achieve the effect I want.

Welcome to week twenty-seven.

Norse Novels

I finished the edit of Book Two this week and started on the rough edit of Book Three, but that was only one day. I think I might have a slight case of editing fatigue as it was quite a struggle. Anyway, I gave myself a day off to do something different on Sunday, so hopefully I’ll be a little fresher for the coming week. I hope to finish going through the rough draft this week, but it might take the whole week.

Other Projects

Still haven’t done any more image searching this week, but I have spent a fair bit of time on my short story book, so that’s good. I’ve decided that the cut-off date for new stories was today (Sunday). So I can begin to finalise the formatting and get the front and back matter sorted. Then, I’ll have to think about the cover.
