12/02/2018 – 18/02/2018

Hi, everyone.

Well, this past week has been one of ups and downs. The downs I’m not going to go into here. That’s nothing to do with my writing. The ups, well, I think I finally have all versions of secret project 1 sorted. The eBook versions didn’t want to play for a couple of days (I think some rogue code had got into them), but they’re okay now. I’m still playing around with the blurb text. That may change tomorrow.

So, in this coming week, apart from a few tweaks to sp1 and working on a few promo bits and pieces, I’ll be back to sp2. I might also do some short story work, not sure yet. We’ll see how it goes. I do have some disruption on Monday as I have someone staying over.

I have finished the following book this week:

  • The Lore of the Evermen by James Maxwell

See you all next week.

05/02/2018 – 11/02/2018

Hi, everyone.

So, I did an on-screen read-through of secret project 2 and a paper edit. Phew! (As you can probably, guess, it’s not that long.) I also did another edit of the short story and sent it off. Probably won’t hear about that till May. I also received one short story rejection and another where the anthology has been abandoned. Oh, well. I’ll be looking for other places to send some of the rejections over the next couple of weeks.

I also received the proof copy of secret project 1, after 3 days! I wasn’t expecting it till the end of this coming week, so that was good. That means my next task will be scouring the proof copy for anything that needs to be changed, finalising the eBook copy in both mobi and ePub and getting everything set for launch. I’ll let you know when that is once it’s finalised.

In the past week, I have completed the following books:

  • Birthday Boy by David Baddiel
  • Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel
  • Kiln Zone by Sharman Badgett-Young

Until next week.

29/01/2018 – 04/02/2018

Hi, everyone.

Well, this past week went exactly as planned. I completed work on secret project book one and I have now ordered the proof copy of the paperback. That should be with me in about two weeks, or possibly sooner, if post is now over the whole Christmas backlog. I also have an eBook copy pretty much ready to go.

The other thing that happened this week, was that Breeding Ugly went live on Monday. You can now buy the eBook from most major eBook retailers.

That’ll be the last Hunter Vampire book for a while, as the secret project will be my main priority for a while.

So, this coming week, it’s back to secret project 2. I should be able to get another edit done in 3-4 days max, which will give me time to do another edit on the short story I wrote last month and get it sent off. Oh, by the way, I had an acceptance of one of my short stories from the end of last year, 🙂 and a rejection of another. 😦 Onwards.

This week I have completed reading the following books:

  • Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman
  • The Last Days of Jack Sparks by Jason Arnopp
  • Matilda by Roald Dahl
  • The Devil and the Muse by Mandy Jackson-Beverly

Hope to see you all again next week.

22/01/2018 – 28/01/2018

Hi, everyone.

This past week things didn’t quite go to plan. I did do another pass on the short story. That’s going to sit for a week, or two, now. And instead of working on secret project one, I worked on secret project two.

So, this coming week is secret project one’s week. I hope to have a paperback proof copy ordered by the time I write this post next week. It is probably the only thing I am going to work on.

During the past week, I have completed reading the following books:

  • The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
  • My Year of Stories by Abigail Shepherd
  • Howl’s Moving Castle by Dianne Wynne Jones
  • One Day I Will Write About This Place by Binyavanga Wainaina (audio)
  • A Boy Called Christmas by Matt Haig (audio)
  • James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl

Hope to see you all next week.

15/01/2018 – 21/01/2018

Hi, everyone.

This past week I completed the final read through of Breeding Ugly and uploaded it everywhere. I also wrote a short story for an anthology submission. The story is only in first draft stage, but it doesn’t have to be submitted until March.

In the coming week, I will probably do another pass on that short story, but my main task will be to try to finalise secret project 1.

This week I completed the following books:

  • Remember to Love Me by Becky Wright
  • Hitman Anders and the Meaning of it All by Jonas Jonasson (audio)

See you all next week.

08/01/2018 – 14/01/2018

Hi, everyone.

How are the resolutions going? 🙂  I don’t really do resolutions, but I am involved in a fitness challenge, and I’m still going strong with that.

Anyhow, this past week I worked on the secret project second book. I feel as if I now have a proper first draft. Obviously, it needs several more passes and reads, but now it needs to rest for a short while so that perspective can do its work. Apart from a few promo graphics and stuff, I didn’t work on anything else this week.

In the coming week, I’ll be doing the final read through of Breeding Ugly and uploading it to all the other eBook sites, ready for pre-order/release day. I’m not going to commit to anything else in particular, but I will do other things. I’ll let you know next week.

This week, I finished the following books:

  • Love You to Death by Meg Cabot (audio)
  • The Princess Bride by William Goldman

See you all next week.

18/12/2017 – 07/01/2018

Hi, everyone.

Happy New Year!

It is three weeks since my last post. Well, it was Christmas Day and New Year’s Day on the last two Mondays. So, what have I been doing for the last three weeks? Apart from eating and drinking, that is.

First off, I finished the draft version of the first part of the secret project, which is now out with a few readers, as this is a new genre for me. I also worked on part two and have a rough draft of that. I finished off HV5, Breeding Ugly (see below for cover), which is now up for eBook pre-order at Amazon, to be released on 29 January 2018. I probably did some other bits and pieces, but I can’t remember now.

What will I be doing this coming week? Well, hopefully, working on the secret project (possibly both books, but we’ll see). That’s it. Unless I decide to write a short story for submission. That’s a possibility as I was looking at some of the options this weekend. Is that enough? I think so.

Books I’ve finished since the last time:

  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J K Rowling
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J K Rowling
  • The Forever Court by Dave Rudden (audio)

That’s all for now. See you soon.
