04/12/2017 – 10/12/2017

Hi, everyone.

So, this past week has all been admin and tidying, except for one thing. The book proof I’d been waiting for finally arrived. At last! And now, the book is available for you to buy. It’s the paperback version of A First Year of Random, which is in a larger format, just perfect for your coffee table. 🙂 (See below, or go to my Instagram page for video and pics www.instagram.com/julietboydauthor.)

This coming week I’ll be continuing with the admin. I’ve probably got at least a couple more days to go. After that, I’ll do another read through of the secret project. I’d like to get that as close to done as possible this week. That’s probably enough, with Christmas looming.

This week I finished the following books:

  • Sane New World: Taming the Mind by Ruby Wax
  • Authority by Jeff VanderMeer

See you all next week.

27/11/2017 – 03/12/2017

Hi, everyone.

So, what did I end up doing over the past week? Well, I worked on the secret project. I did a read aloud of HVC5. I also wrote and sent off a short story submission.

In this coming week I probably won’t do a lot of writing. It’s going to be an admin week. I was going to do this over the Christmas period, but then I decided why do I want to do mind-numbingly boring stuff during a time you’re supposed to enjoy yourself? It might not take all week, but I have quite a bit of stuff to sort out/tidy that isn’t writing-related, as well. Some of which I just need to sort so it can go up in the loft and be forgotten about.

This week I finished the following book:

  • Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff (audio)

And before I go, I have an offer on a couple of my books at the moment (see my website for full details at http://www.julietboyd.com).

20/11/2017 – 26/11/2017

Hi, everyone.

First off, today is the last day of my sale on the Rag & Bones boxset (see previous post), if you’re interested in getting a copy.

Now, down to work. I have spent the whole of the last week working on the secret project. I still have a few bits and bobs I need to do before I give it a little rest. Those should be finished this week. I’ve researched a few more opportunities I might want to submit to. So, I’ll also look at those this week, and work on them, if I decide to do them.

This week I have completed the following books:

  • The Fantastic Wold of Terry Jones by Terry Jones
  • The Ministry of Ghosts by Alex Shearer (audio)

See you all next week.

13/11/2017 – 19/11/17

Hi, everyone.

Not much to tell this week. Decided I didn’t like any of the short story opportunities, so didn’t do that. Instead, I went through my secret project text a couple of times.

In the coming week, I will be doing the same. 🙂 With a little disruption, as I have a visitor on one of the working days.

In other news, I’m having a sale on one of my books.

BF Sale

Get it while you can.

This week, I have completed the following books (yes, my reading is related to what I’m working on):

  • The Worry Website by Jacqueline Wilson
  • Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl
  • Vulgar the Viking and a Midsummer Night’s Scream by Sarah Horne, Odin Redbeard
  • Revenge of the Phantom Furball y Sam Hay
  • Space Penguins Star Attack by Lucy Courtenay

See you all next week.

06/11/2017 – 12/11/2017

Hi, everyone.

I got to the end of my first draft of the secret project, and I completed a paper edit (the writing part, not the transcribing part). So, slightly more than I imagined. There will, I think, be quite a few drafts of this one.

This coming week I’ll be transcribing those edits and possibly working on an appendix (of sorts), as well. I’d also like to write another short story. I have a couple of options for this and will need to decide, over the next couple of days, which one I want to do.

This week I have completed the following books:

  • Fish Boy by Chloe Daykin (audio)
  • Witch Wars by Sibéal Pounder (audio)
  • Cheesemares & Blamehounds by Ross Collins (audio)
  • The Last of the Spirits by Chris Priestley (audio)
  • The Lord of the Rings by J R R Tolkein

See you all next week.

30/10/2017 – 05/11/2017

Hi, everyone.

Well, I sent my two short stories off. I now have five out in the world, fighting for a place in anthologies. 🙂 I also started working on the secret project. Basically, that’s all I’ve done. I say all, only because it doesn’t sound a lot.

In the coming week, I’ll be continuing on that project. If I can get a first draft done over the next 1-2 weeks, I’ll be happy. I also need to do quite a lot of reading related to it. So, that’ll take up quite a bit of my time.

Over the past week, I have finished the following books:

  • Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney (audio)
  • The Magic Potion Shop: The Young Apprentice by Abie Longstaff (audio)
  • Goth Girl by Chris Riddell (audio)
  • The Ghost Hunters by Neil Spring (audio)

See you all next week.

23/10/2017 – 29/10/2017

Hi, everyone.

As planned the paper edit for HV5 is now complete. That’s going to rest for a while before I do anything else on it. I also have two short stories ready to be submitted. I’ll just be doing one more read-through before sending them off. In other news, The Hunter Vampire Chronicles Boxset released on Sunday. It’s available from Amazon, Kobo, iBooks, Barnes & Noble and Book Depository (depending on whether you’re interested in eBook or paperback).

So, this coming week, apart from the read-throughs, I’ll be working on a new project. I did start this, a while back, but I was just testing the waters with it to see if I wanted to do it. I have decided I do. I’m still waiting for the proof copy of another book. If that comes, it will take precedence, but that shouldn’t be for more than one day.

This week I completed reading one book:

  • Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare (audio)

See you all next week.
